Many behaviour issues in dogs, including anxiety, reactivity and aggression are linked to gut health, not just training. In this webinar, Dr Carol Hughes explains how the canine microbiome influences the gut–brain axis, emotional regulation, and behaviour.
Dr Carol Hughes is a canine microbiome specialist with a background in gut ecology and functional nutrition. She researches how plant-derived compounds can be used to support microbial balance and gut health, and is passionate about educating pet owners on the powerful link between the gut, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Carol’s research began in 2014 working with vets and veterinary hospitals to better understand obesity. She has gone on to collate a huge amount of data and has been able to determine many patterns in the canine biome in relation to diets fed and also the effect of the family and environmental biome on dogs too.
Carols team study plants to isolate compounds that can be provided to support dogs with behavioural anxiety and a variety of health conditions.
